Weaving the Colours of Country

Join us for a creative, hands-on workshop with Gumbaynggirr textile artist Sancia Ridgeway inspired by the exhibition Seeing Sydney, Knowing Country.

Sancia will guide you as you discover the colours of Country through photographs. Do you have images of beaches, bushlands or parks you have visited? These places are examples of Country and the colours found in the images will be used as inspiration for your artwork.

You will learn how to create a simple woven object that will be added to a communal artwork to be displayed in the museum.

No experience is necessary, all materials will be supplied but please bring along digital images that you can use as inspiration. We will also have some examples available.

Please note, parents and carers will need to remain with participants for the duration of the workshop but do not require a ticket.
