20 Dec 1926 - Sydney underground railway opened
On 20 December 1926 the first section of underground railway in Sydney began operating.
The underground tunnel system of the City Loop operated from St James to Central Station. The next section of underground railway to Town Hall and Wynyard opened in 1932.
