'My World' animation workshop with Studio Gilay
Discover the world of animation in this hands-on workshop for kids led by Studio Gilay.
Taking inspiration from the three exhibitions currently on display at the Museum of Sydney, this fun and dynamic workshop invites participants to explore themes of place and Country within the digital realm.
Learn how to digitally illustrate, colour and animate using 2D and 3D techniques in Procreate and discover the basic principles of animation and augmented reality (AR) technology. The workshop is designed to promote the intersection between art and place through storytelling and inspire curiosity in the world.
Please note:
- Suitable for ages 8+
- Adult Supervision required for the duration of the workshop
- All materials provided and no previous experience is required
About Studio Gilay:
Formed in 2021 by Jake Duczynski and James Hackett, Studio Gilay is a Sydney-based, Indigenous co-owned production company renowned for its close collaboration and honest approach to design-driven storytelling. Committed to originality, diversity, and meaningful on-screen representation, Gilay is supported by a dynamic and passionate team of writers, directors and artists, with over a third of the team coming from an Indigenous background. Their animated work takes many forms - from projections on the sails of the Sydney Opera House, the Australian National Maritime Museum and Federation Square to sweet lullabies and animated documentaries. Their creative output has been screened on SBS, NITV, ABC and Netflix.
