In conversation with Penelope Seidler AM and architect Colin Griffiths
Join Penelope Seidler and Colin Griffiths at Rose Seidler House for an in-conversation facilitated by Polly Seidler, daughter of Penelope and Harry Seidler. This event will open the weekend’s celebration of the life and work of architect Harry Seidler AC OBE on the 100th anniversary of his birth.
As a 19-year-old student in 1953, Colin Griffiths went to work for Harry Seidler. Colin has recalled that ‘Harry liked – no, depended on – the comfort and familiarity of working colleagues and consultants. He was bewildered when anybody left, he just couldn’t fathom it.’
Colin became a long-time associate of Seidler’s, and during the event he will reflect on some of his memories, from the early years to later moments in the duo’s ongoing professional relationship.
Penelope, Harry Seidler’s wife, an architect in her own right and director of Harry Seidler & Associates, still lives in the house that she designed with her late husband, situated on Sydney’s north shore not too far from Rose Seidler House. At the in-conversation, Penelope will reflect on personal stories of the family and provide insights into Harry as a husband, father to their two children, and her long-term personal and professional partner.
