In celebration of the 100th birthday of the late Harry Seidler, MHNSW will open the doors of Rose Seidler House, ‘the most talked about house in Sydney’, for a festive focus weekend on 24 and 25 June.

Explore the iconic modernist house and garden, relax with a coffee on the lawn, see special items from the collection and hear from experts as they share insights and the research that has informed the maintenance and presentation of Rose Seidler House and the Harry Seidler story.

On Saturday 24 June, join us for two bespoke ticketed events as we hear from architect Penelope Seidler AM, along with long-time Seidler associate and architect Colin Griffiths, in conversation with Polly Seidler. This event will be followed by a tour of Rose Seidler House led by Penelope Seidler, with refreshments provided.

On Sunday 25 June we invite you to explore the house and the garden as our experts answer your questions and focus on the personal and professional life of Harry Seidler and special items within the Rose Seidler Collection. Hear from curators and specialists who will be on hand to enhance your visit, or enjoy exploring the garden or sitting on the deck. A coffee cart will be serving freshly brewed coffee and snacks all day. Entry is free with registration.

Things to remember

• The house and furniture are fragile, so please do not to touch objects or sit on the furniture.
• The grounds and carpark are rough and rocky so please wear appropriate shoes, but note that you will be asked to take off your shoes before entering the house. Wear warm socks in winter!
• All bags and bulky coats must be left at the entrance to the house.
• Professional camera equipment, including tripods, lighting etc, is not allowed inside unless you have organised permission beforehand.
• The house is not wheelchair accessible.
