Elizabeth Farm: a museum at 40

2024 marks the 40th anniversary of Elizabeth Farm opening as a house museum.

Join MHNSW curator Dr Scott Hill for a tour of Australia’s oldest surviving house and its recreated garden to examine how the house was built and how, almost two centuries later, it was conserved. What was the thinking behind the hands-on approach to the interpretation, what did that mean for the collection, and how do we continue to present John and Elizabeth Macarthur’s home to visitors four decades after the doors were opened?
