We are located about 23 kilometres west of the Sydney CBD.

Train

The closest station is Harris Park on the T1 North Shore & Western line. From the station it’s a 15-minute walk to Elizabeth Farm. Walking from Parramatta station takes about 25 minutes, or there’s an option to take the light rail from Parramatta Square.

Light rail

The closest station is Tramway Avenue on the L4 Parramatta Light Rail. From there it’s a 10-minute walk to Elizabeth Farm. Find out more

Bus

Bus 909 leaves regularly from Parramatta train station for Bankstown, travelling via Elizabeth Farm. Get off on the corner of Alice and Alfred streets and we are only about 100 metres from there.

Ferry

From Circular Quay, take the Parramatta River ferry, travelling to Parramatta Wharf. From there it’s a 20-minute walk to Elizabeth Farm.

There is free on-street parking on Alice Street (see parking signs for times). Bus parking is available near the main entrance on Alice Street. There are two designated accessible parking spaces near Elizabeth Farm on Alice Street; visitors are also welcome to use the bus parking area to drop off and pick up visitors for easy access.

The terrain in and around Parramatta is reasonably flat, which makes it perfect for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Elizabeth Farm is included as a stop on the Parramatta Heritage ride and is a short cycle from Parramatta train station. Find out more

Have fun in the garden playing quoits, a popular 19th century game. Make a mini greenhouse to take home. Or step back in time to experience what it was like to do the laundry the old-fashioned way – by hand, without a washing machine!

Connect with local Aboriginal history through the Tony Albert/Dharug-designed ‘memory exchange’ activity. Designed to complement Healing land, remembering Country, this activity provides an opportunity to understand the stories of Aboriginal children in Governor Macquarie’s Native Institute. Reflecting on the experiences of those children, write a message on bottlebrush seeded paper and house it in your own mini-greenhouse. Yours to take home, watch it grow before planting your ‘memory exchange activity’ in your garden or a pot plant – returning the children back to Country.

Elizabeth Farm house is a one-storey building but there are some single steps and uneven surfaces. There is access for people with wheelchairs to all areas except the kitchen and cellar. There is a drop-off point in the bus parking area for visitors with limited mobility.
