Open Day: The Mint
Get ready to explore behind the scenes at the Museums of History NSW. Come see the collections close up, hear from experts on a range of fascinating topics, take a behind-the-scenes tour and relax with good food and coffee in our unique environments.
You’re invited to The Mint, located on Macquarie Street in Sydney, on Gadigal Country. Come explore the heritage site and discover the stories behind the historic building and the collections housed within it.
Drop-in tours
Guided tours will take visitors through the rich history, heritage, and contemporary additions to highlight the stunning architecture. Staff will be onsite to direct you to the tour meeting point when you arrive.
Curator talks
Expert talks from our curators will provide fascinating insights into our shared cultural heritage. To attend, simply speak to a staff member on the day.
Discovery Rooms
Visitors will have an opportunity to browse our collection and hear from staff about the significance of the material.
Relax, eat & play
Enjoy lawn games with friends and family, and relax in the courtyard with an appetising selection of food and beverages from the Bullion Store, where you can also browse a range of architecture, design and garden books plus beautiful gifts and homewares.
