Caring for Country with IndigiGrow
‘Caring for Country’ is a term often used to describe sustainable land management practices and initiatives led by First Nations people.
IndigiGrow is an Aboriginal-owned and run social enterprise based in La Perouse, Sydney. Through its native plant nursery and education programs, IndigiGrow is on a mission to breathe life back into endangered local native plants and edibles, with an aim to revive critically endangered ecological plant communities.
Join Peter Cooley, a proud Bidjigal man from La Perouse and founder of IndigiGrow, for a workshop that focuses on the lost native landscapes of eastern Sydney. Participants will learn about what once grew on the land where Vaucluse House and its colonial garden now sit, and what we can do to help our native ecosystems thrive again.
In the workshop, you’ll learn about First Nations approaches to planting, propagating and caring for native plants, propagate and take home your own native plants to nurture.
All materials and equipment are provided, and no experience is necessary.
