Art in Warrane
Join us for a public art walking tour through the rich history and cultural heritage of Sydney’s Hyde Park Barracks and surrounding areas with artist Tony Albert and art curator Barbara Flynn.
The highlight of our tour will be Murmurations, the new public art commission by Tony Albert and Angela Tiatia. Hear from Tony Albert about this powerful work’s response to the unique history of the Hyde Park Barracks, bringing together First Nations cultural perspectives from Australia and the Pacific. The artists bring to life the experiences of Indigenous peoples who have been affected by forced migration and cultural loss.
Our tour will connect to other First Nations public art projects nearby, including Tony Albert’s monumental work Yininmadyemi Thou didst let fall in Hyde Park. This will give participants a deeper appreciation for the broader context of the public art in the area and the significance of these works for Indigenous and migrant communities.
As this event is a walking tour, a reasonable level of fitness is required.
This event has limited spaces, registrations required.
