Magnolia denudata - Yulan Magnolia

The Yulan Magnolia originates from south-eastern China and is documented in Sydney as a species Alexander Macleay received at Elizabeth Bay House in 1836.

From 1850 onwards it is listed for sale in nursery’s such as the Darling Nursery Sydney and Guilfoyle’s Exotic Nursery in Double Bay.

The magnificent Magnolia denudata is currently in bloom in the Vaucluse House Pleasure Garden and should be in full bloom for the next week or two, making this a perfect time to visit the gardens.
