Repurposed: Creative reuse in the library collection

Our current library display explores the unique and sometimes surprising ways in which items from the library collection have been repurposed.

Among the diverse range of print material held by the Caroline Simpson there are many fascinating examples of reuse. Trade publications, such as sample books or catalogues, included blank pages that were ideal for artistic expression – for children and adults alike. Simple line illustrations presented boundless opportunities for colouring in.

Each item in our current display is an example of how an individual’s interaction with a publication adds layers of meaning to the object and interest to modern readers.
