Thank you to our donors

We thank all our donors who contributed to the 2024 Annual Appeal: Engaging with History.

With your generous support, MHNSW raised over $210,000, which will help to fund accessible learning programs, transportation subsidies for schools from low socio-economic areas and free virtual learning events to help schoolchildren across NSW engage with history.

Our impact

In 2023–24, MHNSW was delighted to welcome more than 39,985 school students to our properties, with an additional 18,100 students participating in our online learning programs.

MHNSW supported 1,253 students from 26 NSW Government schools in low socio-economic areas to participate in curriculum-linked learning programs with assistance from the learning subsidy, which provides subsidised transportation.

Our learning staff shared a lovely anecdote from one of our recent programs:

Learning Producer Edward Washington welcomed a group of students from Gilgandra High School to a learning program at the Justice & Police Museum. As they were sitting down for the introduction, one girl asked if we had any information about her great-great-grandfather Alexander Riley, an Aboriginal tracker in the NSW police force. Ed was delighted to show her the display featuring information about the legendary Tracker Riley, and give the group additional time to watch the documentary about him screened in the space. She and her teachers were thrilled, and incredibly moved to see the artefacts we have on display.
