Curatorial Research: Evaluating the Meroogal Women's Art Prize

Deadline: 10am Wednesday 12 March 2025

This internship provides the opportunity for a student to undertake research to evaluate the Meroogal Women’s Art Prize, a biennial exhibition presented for the 20th time in 2024, which invites women artists to produce works that respond to the historic house of Meroogal, located in Nowra on the NSW South Coast.

Working under guidance from the Manager, Curatorial, the student will undertake desktop and archival research to review, assess and analyse a range of publications and corporate records from the past 20 art prizes. Drawing on this material, the student will produce a written research report and presentation providing an overview of trends, developments and insights into the art prize.

The student will develop skills in analysing, evaluating and synthesising information, and will gain an understanding of the factors that contribute to museum curatorial and exhibition decisions.

Working in the Curatorial & Research Team, the intern will participate in team meetings and events. This internship includes a visit to Meroogal in Nowra, as well as visits to the Western Sydney Records Centre.
