A Volunteer Project

A note about the records

The record series was created under the Closer Settlement Promotion Act, 1910 (Act No 17, 1910). Closer Settlement expanded from a scheme that used Crown Lands only to one that included land held in private hands. The files record the details of the purchase and subsequent dealings between the vendor and purchaser, and the Department of Lands.
