Members: Convict Sydney Walking Tour

Immerse yourself in convict Sydney as our museum experts take you on a members-only walking tour from the site of the first Government House, a place of important early contact between Aboriginal people and the colonists, to the Rum Hospital (now The Mint) and the Hyde Park Barracks, which housed male convicts and was the epicentre of the colony’s convict system.

Retrace the footsteps of the thousands of convicts who were marched from Sydney Cove up to the Hyde Park Barracks through the Governor’s Domain for processing, and hear stories of convicts’ successes and failures, punishments and rewards.

The tour includes access to MHNSW sites: the Museum of Sydney, The Mint and the Hyde Park Barracks.

Bookings essential; registrations open soon.

Spots are strictly limited. A wait list may be available.

If you cannot make this session, a paid tour is available. See here
