Macquarie Street Adventure
Join us in the April school holidays for the Macquarie Street Adventure, a day of free drop-in activities proudly presented by Museums of History NSW, the Parliament of NSW and the State Library of NSW.
Enjoy drop-in activities held in the courtyard of the Hyde Park Barracks, once home to thousands of convicts. Learn the historical art of knot-tying with macramé artist Carol Lamb from May and Myrtle, make and take home a decorative key chain featuring a crown knot. Make yourself a convict love token, build a paper replica of the Hyde Park Barracks designed by artist James Gulliver Hancock and try your hand at a bricklaying activity.
Book here for the Hyde Park Barracks museum experience. Registration is not required for drop-in workshops held in the courtyard but is highly recommended.
Afterwards, head to the State Library of NSW and the Festival of Democracy at the Parliament of NSW for more hands-on activities, exhibitions and shows.
