Heritage and Architecture Tours of Kincoppal Rose Bay School
Established in 1882, Kincoppal Rose Bay School has stood for more than a century as a place of learning and growth, beautifully blending tradition with forward-thinking innovation. This guided tour offers the opportunity to discover the remarkable history of this beautiful harbourside campus.
Walk through the iconic Jubilee Gates and uncover the school’s rich Sacred Heart heritage – from secret tunnels and a sandstone bridge to the Noviceship Lawn and sandstone courtyard.
Visitors will enjoy a fascinating glimpse into the past as we walk through the lower grounds, experiencing lush bushland and open spaces, before visiting the community cemetery and the historic villa that houses the school’s archives.
A highlight of the tour is the chapel, designed by renowned architect John Horbury Hunt and completed in 1900. Listed as a heritage building, the chapel features a rare 1890 Puget organ, originally sent to Kincoppal Rose Bay in 1904 from the Sacred Heart Convent in Bordeaux, France. Located in the heart of the main building, the chapel stands as a powerful reminder of the school’s history and values.
