Glenn Murcutt Birthday Celebration and Tours of Littlemore House

This is your chance to wish one of Australia’s most celebrated living architects, Glenn Murcutt AO, a happy 90th birthday with friends at the Littlemore House in Woollahra – a project completed 40 years ago this year and opened publicly for this event only.
Museums of History NSW, the Murcutt Foundation and the current owners of the Littlemore House jointly invite just 60 people to a talk and house tour on 26 July 2026.
When completed in 1986, the Littlemore House was the first project designed by Murcutt in a tight city setting. It embraced the adjacent park with soaring volumes that filter views and light deep into the spaces within. While radical for its time and place, the Littlemore House displays the same underlying rationale for which Murcutt was to become world famous. Just like his houses in Mount Irvine and Mount Wilson in the Blue Mountains, and the Magney House at Bingie Bingie on the South Coast of NSW, the Littlemore House arranges services along one boundary, with sun-lit living on the other.

This event is not accessible. There are stairs into the park and a full flight of stairs to enter the house.
Strictly no footwear is to be worn inside the house.
Photography is not permitted inside, but sketchbooks are welcomed.
The event will be held partially outdoors, so participants should allow for the possibility of rain and bring wet weather gear if needed.
