About the program

In this new curriculum-aligned program, students follow the journey of water from creek to coast, explore natural and human features of water environments, and investigate the enduring connection between Aboriginal peoples and Water Country.

Students will:

  • listen to stories, handle objects and examine sources to learn about the Gadi and Birrabirra peoples’ connections to Saltwater Country and Freshwater Country
  • observe the natural and human features of water environments across the Vaucluse House estate
  • play movement games and participate in hands-on activities such as planting seeds
  • investigate how water is collected, stored and reused as a valuable resource in the kitchen garden
  • discover how water supports the survival of all living things.

This fully facilitated Geography excursion, informed by Bangal Partnerships, complements new Stage 1 units of work by providing students with an engaging, place-based opportunity to explore Water Country, Aboriginal perspectives and geographical concepts in action.
